HAPPY TWENTY-THIRD BIRTHDAY JOEY!!
JOEY THESE ARE 23 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT YOU:
1. I love that no matter how old you are, you will always be my "baby".... you were a sweet baby and the only one of my kids that slept some.
2. I loved it when you were a baby & you giggled all the time ... it was contagious.
3. I love that you are a very hard worker and have a great work ethic. I still think it's funny that your boss at Bahama Bucks even trusted you to close the store and do the deposit at the end of
the night...when you were only 15!
4. I love that you do very well in school. You are bright, alert, and attentive to your studies …I
admire you for dedication to school and always wanting to learn something new.
5. I love your positive attitude… no matter the situation.
6. I love that you are determined and always finish what you start.
7. I love that you find joy in anything you do (even scummy pond diving for discs).
8. I love that you are non-judgemental ... and do not like gossip.
9. You are great at snowboarding (maybe a little too daring, so maybe I just love that a little because it makes you happy).
10. I love that you are always up for a bowling, ping-pong, foosball, football or disc golf challenge or finding some way to entertain yourself or your friends…you have a way of always finding something fun to do.
11. I love that you have a great love for your niece & nephews .. .I love it when Carly sings "I’m so glad when Daddy comes home" and says “I clap my hands and shout for JOEY and climb
upon his knee".
12. I love that you have a special place in your heart for all little kids. I've heard you on many
occasion’s say your favorite calling was the nursery.
13. I love it that you were an awesome missionary ... and loved your companions no matter the
challenges they may have had.
14. I love the fact that you have continued those friendships with the people's lives you
touched in Wisconsin. You amazed me with the challenge you took on when your
mission call was changed from English to Spanish 6 months into your mission.
15. Regardless of how many times I have been embarrassed…I really do secretly love it when on occasion you have been known to wear some wild, crazy, & sometimes questionable clothing. Just to name a few ... parachute pants to play church softball, tight wranglers, interesting halloween costumes, plastic wrap with only whitey-tighty’s underneath, coming out in a polyester leisure suit & dancing in the middle of Jamie's wedding reception, swimming in the Great Lakes in the freezing Wisconsin December weather in pink girls biking shorts. Oh and I might add, monkey pajamas.
16. I love that you are very affectionate and have always love to cuddle. For many years we always had a certain way we would lie down and watch tv together on the couch (you are too tall now).
17. Speaking of tv .... I loved it when you slept in our room, I won't mention how old you were
before you broke that habit! You laid at the foot of our bed on the floor and later you
graduated into the lazy-boy we moved in there. And you and I loved to watch episode
after episode of Rescue 911, when your Dad was at work living rescue 911.
18. I love that you made great choices when choosing your friends ... you helped each other stay
focused on those things that are truly important and not stray too far!
19. I love that you still have a great relationship with your best friends, you have made the phrase "tu casa es mi casa" a literal reality.
20. You may be the "baby brother" but your older sister and your 2 older brothers look up
to you and your great example. You have also been a wonderful example to your Dad & I.
I love that about you.
21. I love that you have a great love for the outdoors whether it's camping, hunting, fishing, disc golf, playing sports, or snowboarding.
22. I love to watch you while you are watching a sporting event... you have a passion for the
game ... especially when your team wins.
23. I loved the "hiding game" you and I use to play. Who ever got home first (from work or
school) would hide & scare the other one. We got each other every time. Don't think
about trying it now, I don't think my heart could take it!
We love you very much and we are so glad you came into our lives 23 years ago. Life would not be the same without you. Happy Birthday!!!!
Mom (and Dad…he says ditto to everything).
