Jacob & Chelsea Are Engaged

This is my version of Jacob’s proposal plan…a “plan” that almost didn’t work! He wanted to take Chelsea back to the church building where he first saw her at a basketball game. He borrowed a key to the church from Chelsea’s Grandpa. Jacob & I worked together that day putting things together & then later that day Jamie, Carly, Joey, Raegan & I went over to the church to set up the video camera, white lights, his computer with the song “Marry Me” on it, remotes for the music & white lights, a table with china, champagne glasses, sparkling cider, dessert, candles & flowers…we got it all done per Jacob’s request (even the stage lights set just how he wanted them). Jim & Carly went into the building first & ran down a dark hallway to open a side door for us. While running in the dark Jim didn’t see a table that was left in the middle of the hallway, he ran into it and tumbled over it hurting himself in the leg & ribs & when the table kicked back it hurt Carly’s leg as well. We got passed that drama & proceeded to get everything ready. As planned, Chelsea’s Grandpa called Chelsea & asked her if she & Jacob could go check the church building out because someone reported there was a door ajar. I texted Jacob & said we would be out of the building in seven minutes, he sent a text back saying “make it three Chelsea’s driving”. We ran to get out of there. As we were speeding away in our cars Jim handed me my camera. Oh my gosh…he was suppose to leave the camera inside the church for Jacob to take pictures. We parked behind a wall & Jim took off running to get it back in the church and back to the car before they got there. Mission accomplished! As we were parked behind the wall next to the church we saw a truck come in just ahead of Jacob & Chelsea. What!! We watched as Jacob went up to the guy in the truck (it happened to be the church’s security guy) & tell him what was going on, but Chelsea followed him out of the car! The security guy went in & turned off the lights & locked the door. Oh no, not working as planned!! We were all freaking out, especially Carly, she kept saying I don’t want anything bad to happen to Uncle Jakey & Chelsea. We went speeding through the neighborhood honking & blinking our lights to stop the security guy. Jim finally was able to stop him & let him know what was going on. He went back & unlocked the door. Surprisingly, Joey was able to sneak back into the church and turn the dimmers on before Jacob and Chelsea went in. When inside the church, Jacob asked Chelsea to sit on the front of the stage so he could take a picture of her just as he saw her for the first time, with her feet dangling off the stage. As he stepped backwards to take a picture he grabbed the ring & the two remotes to turn on the music and the lights. This was all documented on the video camera we had staged and the church’s surveillance cameras. The story continues for us on the outside of the church building! We again decided to park behind the wall “just in case” someone else happened to pull up to the church. And sure enough, it happened! Two boys drove up & got out of the car with basketballs. Jim & Joey took off running, unknowingly through a big puddle of water yelling “stop stop”. It really freaked those boys out! Not too long after that a car pulls up behind us, it was Chelsea’s parents coming to “spy” too. We had a really fun visit with them. After quite some time we decided we were going in the church to congratulate them! Then Chelsea’s grandparents showed up. There was tons of excitement that night!! In the end, we had some really good laughs about the whole adventure. WE COULD NOT BE ANY HAPPIER THAN WE ARE RIGHT NOW FOR JACOB AND CHELSEA TO BE MARRIED SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2012 (the Saturday in between his rotations in Colorado Springs and Los Angeles)!! Jacob left yesterday for a four week rotation in Boston. Chelsea is going to visit him for a few days during his stay. She was such a help getting him packed and ready to go. This is them with a plot to take Chelsea along & a little fun!
